Since 1946

We have been mining the red gravel ridges of the Buchanan, Tennessee, area for more than 50 years. Our base gravel has been used on highways, driveways, and parking lots throughout the area. In 2008 we added to our aggregate facilities when we purchased the washed gravel plant of our friends and neighbors at Tennessee Asphalt Company. We now produce a number of additional natural sand and gravel products, including concrete sand, masonry sand, sewer gravel, three sizes of pea gravel (5/8, ¾, and birdseye), and TDOT sizes 3, 4, 57, 7, 8, and 103. We also produce sand filter media which is used in a number of sanitary sewer systems in subdivisions in the greater Nashville area.

Our products are used by ready-mix plants and asphalt producers in the production of asphalt, ready-mix concrete, concrete blocks, and brick pavers. They are also used in water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer construction and for erosion control. Our gravel is great for landscaping and playgrounds, too. Since our material is surface-mined, our pea gravel contains no shells and our sand is free of organic material.

We have a fleet of dump trucks to deliver material to your plant or jobsite. We also have a network of private haulers we work with to help deliver material on longer hauls or during peak season. We will also load your trucks or even small trailers. We have four 34-ton front end loaders, each equipped with bucket scales to get your vehicles in and out fast. If you live too far to drive to our pit, we can refer you to one of our many retailers. We have customers that resell our products in Clarksville, Pleasant View, Crossville, Jamestown, and more.

Safety is key at our mine. We are members of the Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association and have been named one of that organization’s “Sentinels of Safety”. We have also received a number of annual awards from the Tennessee Road Builders Association for working as many as 28,000 man-hours in a year without a lost-time work injury.
